How it works

Good to know

  • Extracts only the text layer — images, tables, and layout aren't preserved, since this outputs plain .txt
  • Text comes out in reading order, page by page
  • Password-protected PDFs aren't supported — remove the password first

FAQ

My PDF is a scan — nothing came out?

Scanned PDFs are images of text, not real characters, so there's nothing here to extract. Use PDF OCR instead, or Image to Text for individual pages.

Can I extract text from a password-protected PDF?

Not currently — password-protected or encrypted PDFs aren't supported. Remove the password first, then try again.

Does this work on Mac, Windows, or my phone?

Yes — it runs in any modern browser on Mac, Windows, Chromebook, iPhone, or Android. No app or software to install.
