In short: Your files are processed entirely inside your own browser for most tools. There are a few real exceptions, all described below: the URL Shortener stores the destination link you submit (Section 4); Image-to-Text sends the image to a cloud OCR service by default (Section 5), with an on-device option available; and the Translate feature (used by Image-to-Text and Text to PDF/Word) sends the text you choose to translate — not your file — to a translation service (Section 5a). Document Scanner, Background Remover, and Passport Photo Maker download a real processing engine from a public source the first time you use them, entirely for on-device processing (Section 5b) — nothing about you or your file is included in that download. Every other tool remains fully client-side. The data described below also relates to advertising, standard website hosting, and a small number of third-party services used by specific tools (detailed below).

1. Who we are

ConvertKoro ("we," "us," or "the Service") operates a growing set of free PDF, image, developer, calculator, audio, and video tools, currently hosted at convertkoro.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the Service and how it is handled.

2. Your files are not collected

Every conversion, compression, editing, and calculation tool on ConvertKoro runs locally in your web browser using client-side code. This means:

  • Your files never leave your device.
  • We do not upload, receive, view, store, or retain any documents, images, audio, or video you process.
  • Once you close or reload the page, any files held in browser memory are discarded.

Because of this design, we have no access to the contents of your files at any point, except for the Image-to-Text (OCR) and URL Shortener tools described below. Video, Document Scanner, Background Remover, and Passport Photo Maker tools download a processing engine from a public CDN the first time you use them; this download contains no data about you or your file, and no part of your file is sent along with it.

3. Information collected automatically

While the tools themselves do not collect your files, some standard information is collected automatically when you visit the site, primarily to display advertising, understand site usage, and operate and secure the website:

  • Advertising data — through Google AdSense (see Section 5), including cookies and similar identifiers, your approximate location, device and browser information, and how you interact with ads.
  • Analytics data — through Google Analytics, including pages visited, approximate location, device type, and how you navigate the site. This helps us understand which tools are useful and where to improve.
  • Technical and log data — our hosting provider may automatically record information such as your IP address, browser type, and access times as part of normal server operation and security.

4. The Currency Converter tool

The Currency Converter is a tool on ConvertKoro that contacts an external service by design: it fetches current exchange rates from a free, public exchange-rate API (open.er-api.com) each time you load the page. Only a generic rate request is sent — no amount you type, no currency you select, and no personal information is included in that request.

5. The Image-to-Text (OCR) tool

By default, the Image-to-Text tool sends the image you upload to a third-party cloud OCR service (OCR.space) for text recognition, since this produces meaningfully more accurate results than processing entirely in-browser, especially for photos, stylized text, or non-English scripts. The image is sent solely to perform this recognition and is not retained by us afterward. If you'd prefer your image never leaves your browser, you can choose the on-device OCR option instead, which processes the image locally using the same engine as our other tools; this is also used automatically as a fallback if the cloud service is briefly unavailable.

5a. The Translate feature

Image-to-Text and Text to PDF/Word both offer an optional Translate feature. If you use it, the text you're translating — not your file, not your image — is sent directly from your browser to MyMemory (a free, public translation API) to perform the translation, then returned to your browser. This only happens if you actively choose to translate; extracting text or creating a document does not use this feature unless you click Translate. Text sent for translation is processed by MyMemory to provide the translation and is not stored by us afterward. Because this call is made directly from your browser rather than through our servers, we never see the text you're translating.

5b. Document Scanner, Background Remover, and Passport Photo Maker

These three tools use real, on-device computer-vision engines (Google's MediaPipe for face and background detection, and OpenCV.js for document edge detection) to work. The first time you use one of these tools, your browser downloads the relevant engine from its public source (Google's model hosting, or the OpenCV.js CDN) — a one-time download, cached afterward. Your photo itself is never uploaded anywhere for these three tools; all face detection, background processing, and document-edge detection happen locally in your browser.

6. The URL Shortener tool

The URL Shortener also stores something server-side by design — a genuinely short link is only possible if the destination is saved somewhere and looked up when the link is opened. When you use this tool, the URL you submit is stored (via Netlify's serverless storage) so it can redirect visitors who open the short link. Nothing else about you is collected as part of this — no account, no IP address logging beyond what any web request normally involves, no tracking of who clicks the link. Every other tool on this site (aside from the exceptions listed above) remains fully client-side, with nothing ever uploaded.

7. Cookies and advertising (Google AdSense)

This website uses Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google, to display ads. To do this, Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.

9. Consent (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent message before personalized ads and non-essential cookies are used. You may grant, decline, or change your choices at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect data already processed.

  • Google AdSense — advertising. See Google's Privacy Policy.

  • Netlify — website hosting and delivery, and serverless storage for the URL Shortener tool. See Netlify's Privacy Policy.
  • open.er-api.com — provides live exchange rates for the Currency Converter tool only.
  • OCR.space — provides cloud text-recognition for the Image-to-Text tool by default (an on-device-only option is also available).
  • MyMemory — provides the Translate feature used by Image-to-Text and Text to PDF/Word, only when you choose to translate text. This is a free, public translation service called directly from your browser.
  • Google MediaPipe — provides the on-device face and background detection used by Background Remover and Passport Photo Maker; the model file is downloaded from Google's public hosting but your photo itself is never uploaded to Google or anyone else.
  • OpenCV.js — provides the on-device document edge-detection used by Document Scanner; loaded from a public CDN, your photo is never uploaded.
  • CDN-hosted libraries (cdnjs, unpkg, jsdelivr) — deliver the JavaScript and processing engines that power each tool, including the OCR language files, the video-processing engine, and the document-generation libraries used by Document Scanner and Text to PDF/Word.

11. Data security

Except for the Image-to-Text tool's default cloud OCR mode (Section 5), the Translate feature (Section 5a), and the URL Shortener tool (Section 6), your files are never transmitted to us, so they are not exposed to interception in transit or storage on our side. The website is served over a secure HTTPS connection.

12. Children's privacy

This Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. International visitors

The Service is available globally. Automatically collected data described above may be processed in countries other than your own, per the policies of the third-party providers listed above.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, particularly as new tools are added to the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
