PDF Tools
PDF is the format most people end up sharing important documents in — contracts, invoices, scanned forms, reports — precisely because it looks the same everywhere. That also makes it awkward to edit: combining a few PDFs, pulling out one page, shrinking a file that's too large to email, or getting text out of a scan usually means either an unwieldy desktop app or an online tool that wants you to upload your document to a stranger's server first.
These tools handle that differently. Merging, splitting, compressing, converting to and from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and image formats, editing pages directly, extracting text — each runs as code in your browser, so the file you're working with never leaves your device for most of these tools. A couple, like PDF to Word's format-preserving mode, genuinely do need a server-side engine to rebuild real paragraphs and tables accurately, and that's disclosed plainly on the tool itself rather than hidden.
